Services
I need help. What will happen if I come to the Family Justice Center?
When you arrive at the FJC, you will meet with a trained Navigator who will be your guide and support throughout your visit. We understand that reaching out for help can be overwhelming, and our goal is to make sure you feel safe, supported, and informed from the very beginning.
During your intake, the Navigator will meet with you privately to:
● Listen to your story in a compassionate and nonjudgmental way. You’re the expert in your own life. We are here to understand your unique experience and needs, and offer hope for what’s possible moving forward.
● Support you with safety planning tailored to your specific situation. This may include talking through ways to stay safe, preparing for emergencies, or making a plan for the future. Whatever safety looks like for you, we want to help you plan for it.
● Explain your options for services, both on-site and in the community. Whether you need legal support, counseling, shelter, or other resources, your Navigator will walk you through what’s available.
● Help you prioritize your needs and figure out what steps feel most urgent or important right now. You’re in control of the process, and we’re here to support your choices.
● Coordinate referrals to trusted service providers and community partners, including many who are located right inside our center.
● Provide court support and services in real time when considering orders of protection, coordinating with court staff on the clients behalf, and providing general knowledge about hearings and court processes.
● Ensure confidentiality and create a space where you feel comfortable asking questions, exploring your options, and making informed decisions.
If you have children, they are welcome to join you in one of our comfortable living rooms while you’re working with the Navigator, or to enjoy our play area while being monitored by our trained and background checked volunteers. We ensure all child visitors feel secure and comfortable while they are here, and your child will leave with a book and a comfort item at the end of your visit.
Our Navigators are here to walk with you, to offer you hope, and to illuminate your next steps
